Our Project | Toolkit Facta

This digital toolbox was created as part of the project ‘Understanding and confronting disinformation’ (Michel Pretalli, ISTA, Université Marie & Louis Pasteur), funded by the Burgundy Franche-Comté Region.

This toolbox was created by the Facta debunking project to provide essential tools for navigating the world of news. The articles were edited by our experts and collaborators. The videos were initially shot in Italian and then translated into English and French with the help of artificial intelligence.

Who are we?

We verify news. Facta is an independent project addressing disinformation, established in 2020. We are a registered newspaper with the Court of Milan (No. 56, March 8, 2021), and we are part of TFCF SRL (RE-296115, with bylaws available here), the company that also operates the political fact-checking outlet Pagella Politica.

We are active members of the international fact-checking community, particularly at the European level and beyond. Since March 2021, we have been part of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN), as signatories of its Code of Principles. We are also founding members of the European Fact-Checking Standards Network and have been signatories of its Code since 2023.

We are fully independent. We are not backed by major publishing groups or large investors, nor do we receive funding from Italian authorities or political organizations. Our operations are sustained through service sales, participation in calls and projects, and collaborations with major technology platforms.
